Two signals, HW4x1.xls and HW4x2.xls shown in the figure below have been sampled eight times per cycle (sampling rate = 480).

 

An instantaneous current relay is to be designed with a pickup of 20 amps (RMS).

 

  1. Determine the time that the relay will pickup for both DFT and cosine filter algorithms for the two sampled signals.
  2. Determine the percent overreach for the two algorithms for each of the signals
  3. Determine the true maximum RMS value of the signals
  4. Which algorithm meets the requirements for this relay.
